Multiple Unmanned Platforms

There are great platforms out there supporting unmanned applications, but a drawback to most systems has been the limitations of the CF-19 notebook computer when utilized with the Operational Control Unit (OCU) or Ground Control Stations (GCS). Utilizing the CF-19 while in vehicles can be difficult, and for dismounted patrols it’s near impossible. Because the CF-19 is a laptop,  you must remain static in order to work on the computer. That’s where the BDATech Modular Tactical System (MTS) and APEx come into play. Providing a mobile computing solution opens a vast range of possibilities for tactical employment of UAS systems.

BDATech products are quickly becoming the go-to solutions for mobile/dismounted command and control to augment and support YOUR currently fielded unmanned systems. Our recent success as the U.S. Navy’s Expeditionary Ground Control Station for Scan Eagle demonstrates the flexibility in employment by allowing the Operator to have C2 where they want, no longer chained to a physical location due to GCS location.

We are also providing support as a mobile solution for AeroVironment’s  Puma, Raven and Wasp and we are changing the way our customers are doing business. Pre-flight checks can be accomplished in close proximately, and if the Operator needs to move, they now can. Operations from vehicles become better optimized and you need don’t require as much room to work.

We also support several other robotics programs and Quad Copter initiatives, demonstrating how our customers are embracing the BDATech product family in order to address tactical mobility challenges.

True Use-On-The-Move Mobile Solution

Size Weight and Power (SWaP) solutions benefits:

· Provided a true use-on-the-move mobile solution

· Decreased the carried weight by 10+lbs

· Provided a 30% battery power savings over the CF-19

Mission Configurable

The APEx Predator System (APS) and MTS systems allow the warfighter to transition from computer operation to direct tactical engagement in seconds with a wearable system that is incorporated into a compact plate carrier system, without compromising any of the certified ballistics protection. A warfighter doesn’t need to stop, put down gear and lose time in a stationary position while powering up or repacking equipment. Black Diamond’s goal was to create a wearable computer solution that is a complete system, providing true “on the move” performance and situational awareness for a variety of applications, including targeting (JTACs, TACPs and Forward Observers), Combat Medics, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Combat Weather and Military Intelligence.

APEx Predator System

The APEx Predator System provides POWER + DATA which enables communications from tactical radios and peripherals to commercial tablets and computers and smartphones running both Windows and Android operating systems.

Power
Management

The MTS and APEx systems both work in conjunction with your AeroVironment GCS. Remember, we are replacing the CF-19 Toughbook, and NOT your AV hardware.

You can connect the AV GCS cables to the Black Diamond systems via one of our Ethernet cables that support an RJ45. In this configuration, both the Black Diamond system AND the AV GCS will require their own respective 2590 battery.

However, a key component of the integration piece is the CB-0418 for the APEx system and the CB-0403 for the Modular Tactical System (MTS).

By modifying the AV cables, which the customer must send to us, we can allow the AV GCS and the MTS or APEx to operate from a single, common 2590 battery and provide a more robust connection than the RJ45.

“Trickle-Charge”
Mode

In battery trickle-charge mode, the Wedge is designed to maintain the charge of the installed radio battery and slowly recharge (a.k.a., trickle-charge) that radio battery. In this mode, the wedge will keep the radio battery topped off except during times of extended radio.

Battery Elimination

Battery eliminator mode reduces weight of the entire system by removing the need for the radio battery and any spare batteries that might be carried. It also reduces the height of the radio, and when positioned at the front right or front left of the body, this leaves extra rooms for shouldering a weapon.

Multiple Radios & Peripherals

Incorporating the APEx Predator System you can now connect four radio peripherals devices and manage them from a single end-user device. You can also daisy-chain additional APEx Systems together or Black Diamond’s Tactical I/O Expansion Hub. In addition to supporting your GCS, we also support your hand-held radios in the AN/PRC-152, AN/PRC-148 and MPU-4 radios.
